This display persists for the duration of the Timed
Reject Time (signaling the Timed Reject output), then
the display resets and again shows the day and date.
Note that successive detects occurring during travel
time result in additional *’s appearing on the display.
The routine is a convenient way to keep track of
detects, especially during long Travel Times.
CONTROLLING THE MPC DISPLAY
The flow through the various menus is monitored on
the LCD and controlled with the switch keys. The
details will be explained in the next section. However,
two procedures are used over and over and deserve
special attention.
TRAVEL BETWEEN MENUS
There are two possible methods to move from one
sub-menu to another:
1.
If a soft key is labeled with the name of the menu,
simply press the key and the MPC display will
travel there.
2.
Some menus have multiple branch points and
have destination menus listed in a column. In
this case a cursor will be located at the first letter
of one of the listings. Two soft keys labeled “Se-
lect Up” and “Select Down” are used to position
the cursor at the desired column entry. A third
soft key labeled “Go To” is used to transfer to the
menu selected by the cursor.
CHANGING VARIABLES
The MPC has many possible configurations which
provide considerable versatility. As a result, many
variables exist which must be adjusted by the operator.
There are three major types of variable:
1.
Numerical
2.
ON/OFF
3.
AUTO/MANUAL
All of the variable types are adjusted in the same
manner, using the INCR (increase) and DECR
(decrease) soft keys. Variables listed in a column
are indicated with the cursor and selected using
the Select Up and Select Down keys.
DETAILED MPC MENU DESCRIPTION
Every sub-menu in the flowchart of Figure 19 is
explained in this section. It is recommended that
the operator experiment with the MPC as the
manual is studied. If this is not practical refer to
Figures 20 through 42. They show the display
contents for each sub-menu.
POWER UP DISPLAY (FIGURE 20)
This display appears at power up for approximately
10 seconds. It provides Eriez Magnetics’ address
and telephone numbers.
MONITOR DISPLAY (FIGURE 21)
After power up, the metal detector settles here to
display critical adjustment and detection status. No
adjustments to the unit can be performed at this
menu level. Three keys are operational: CHANGE
PRODUCT, MAIN MENU, and ID. Simply press the
key to move to the corresponding sub-menu.
