Once initiated, the system will say “RC loss going home” as an audible warning, and will show
Going
Home
in the Hovermap status bar. This function uses advanced autonomy to keep the system safe.
Once the communications link between the drone and the remote control has been restored, you can
abort the automatic function to regain control of the system. There are two ways to do this:
If Wi-Fi is available:
Press the
Pilot Assist
button. This button is located in the Master Controls,
and the action will be confirmed by a secondary confirmation pop-up screen.
If Wi-Fi is not available:
Double toggle the flight mode switch. Toggle the flight mode switch in
and out of the Hovermap mode.
4.6.1.4 Wi-Fi Communications Loss RTH failsafe
The Wi-Fi Communication Loss RTH failsafe is an advanced autonomy failsafe that will automatically
bring the drone back to the home position if the system senses that the Wi-Fi link between Hovermap
and the controller tablet is lost. It is not always obvious when the function has been initiated, but you
will notice that the Waypoint UI will stop updating the real-time point stream. If the status is open in the
display, you may also notice that the HTTP status indicators, TX and RX, will not be illuminated.
The system will continue to go to any remaining waypoints set for the mission. Once complete, it will
initiate an automatic return to home. During the return, Wi-Fi communication may be reestablished. If
this happens, you can abort the return to home. Once communication is reestablished, the real-time
point stream will be updated with the information gathered during the loss.
There are two ways to abort the Wi-Fi Communications Loss RTH failsafe:
If Wi-Fi is available:
Press the
Pilot Assist
button. This button is located in the Master Controls,
and the action will be confirmed by a secondary confirmation pop-up screen.
If Wi-Fi is not available:
Double toggle the flight mode switch. Toggle the flight mode switch in
and out of the Hovermap mode.
If you have aborted the automatic return to home, you have the following options:
Continue to fly the system in Pilot Assist mode.
Set new waypoints and execute a new mission in Autonomous Waypoint mode.
