THERMOCOUPLE MAINTENANCE
The Element4 fireplaces have two thermocouples; one next
to the primary thermocouple and one opposite the pilot side
of the main burner. The completeness and operation of both
must be checked. A qualified installer must confirm that both
thermocouples are in place and not damaged. While checking
the thermocouple, please ensure that the ignitor rod is not
cracked as well.
VENT MAINTENANCE
The following venting system inspection by a qualified service
technician is recommended every six months:
1. Inspect for excessive condensation, e.g. water droplets
forming in the inner lining and subsequently dripping out
of the joints. This can cause corrosion in the system.
2. Check for corrosion in areas exposed to the elements.
Where rust spots or holes have appeared, these must be
immediately replaced.
3. Ensure that there is no foreign material in the vents. Survey
by removing the cap and shining a light down the vent.
4. Check all joints and pipes to make sure that nothing has
been disturbed or loosened.
