When the Skip White feature is activated, any continuous white area (that is, area free of printing data) is skipped. When
the carriage reaches a ‘white’ area, it returns to the home position and pauses. The media continues to pass through the
printer at a faster rate and without being printed on. When the media reaches the specified position, it starts to print
again. This saves print time and consequently reduces the total job time.
When the Skip White check box is selected in the Preferences dialog box, the printer skips ‘white’ areas. The carriage
goes to home position, and the media advances continuously, until reaching the next printing area in the job. Then the
printing continues normally.
The following figure shows the image that is to be printed, in this case, the Japanese flag with crop-marks. When the
carriage reaches the area marked ‘skip’, the carriage returns to its home position and the media continues to pass
through the printer. When the media reaches the area marked ‘print’, the carriage resumes printing.
