Q: Screw link connector, connector which is closed by a
screw-motion gate, which is a load bearing part of the connec-
tor when fully screwed up. These are intended to be used only
for long-term or permanent connections.
See table (a) for type and assigned class, material and width of
lock opening.
Connectors should always be loaded in the working position
only and not at across the gate. Check that gates close auto-
matically and lock in place before every use if a screw gate is
being used be sure to close it completely (Caution do not over
tighten!).
Connectors with a manual lock (screw lock) should not be used
if frequent connection/disconnection is necessary.
Screw link connector class Q, must be tightened completely
(the thread must not be visible); otherwise the safe functioning
cannot be guaranteed.
Pressure from outside onto the karabiner/connector substan-
tially reduces its stability, the locking sleeve may break or the
snap lock may no longer open. The maximum tensile strength
is drastically reduced when the gate is open.
In addition please be aware, that the maximum tensile strength
of the karabiner/connector may be reduced by use of wide
webbing or belts.
If the connector is used in a fall arrest system, the length of the
lanyard must always be observed, since it alters the length of
the system and thus the Length of the fall.
Rope-Ø : ≥ 10mm - ≤ 14mm. The pulley element is suitable for
all standard steel cables used in Adventure parks. The closing
mechanism of the product can be affected depending on the
Style and configuration of the cable. Edelrid recommends using
a steel rope with 12 to 14 mm diameter for zip lines (flying foxes)
.
Please ask your cable specialist regarding the configuration of
the cables.
The maximum speed allowed is 10m/s.
GENERAL INFORMATION ON CHOOSING AN ANCHOR
POINT, SAFETY, PRODUCT LIFE, STORAGE, CARE AND
IDENTIFICATION
All adjustable parts must be checked regularly during use.
ANCHOR POINT
In order to avoid high loads and swinging falls in the event of a
fall, anchor points for belay purposes must always be as vertical
as possible above the person being belayed. The lanyard from
the anchor point to the person secured should always be kept
as taut as possible. Slack rope must be avoided! The anchor
point must set up in such a way that, when fixing the PPE,
nothing can occur that could reduce the stability and cause
damage during use. Sharp edges, ridges and crushing can se-
riously impair the stability of the anchors. These should be
covered, where necessary, using suitable auxiliary equipment.
The anchor point and the anchors must be able to withstand
the expected loads in a worst-case scenario. Even when using
shock absorbers (according to EN 355) the anchor points
should be designed to hold shock loads of at least 10 kN, see
also EN 795.
SAFETY NOTICES
When combining this product with other components, one
should be aware that the individual safety aspects of one prod-
uct may interfere or be inhibited by another product.
If this product is used in combination with other components
of a rescue/fall arrest system, users must acquaint themselves
and comply with the enclosed documentation, notes and in-
structions for these components prior to use. This equipment
should only be used in connection with parts of Personal Pro-
tective Equipment (PPE) bearing the CE-symbol to protect indi-
viduals against falls from heights.
If original components are modified or removed from the prod
-
uct, its function maybe impaired. The equipment should not be
modified or altered in any way to allow the attachment of addi
-
tional parts without the manufacturer’s written recommendation.
The equipment must be checked for possible damage before
and after each use. It must be ensured that the equipment is
serviceable and fully functional. The equipment must be dis-
carded immediately if there is even the slightest doubt regard-
ing the safety of the product.
