7.4 Processing of components
WARNING
— Falling component (sheet metal)
— Operating the product without the necessary at-tention
—> Risk of injury to hands and fi ngers, Risk of injury to personnel
• Wear protective boots to protect your feet
• Do not let go of the workpiece during the processing!
• Do not put your fi ngers between the tools!
It is essential to use the tool with largest possible working surface in order to keep the surface pressure at a minimum.
Only during the shaping procedure (at narrow radii) or when processing smaller components and smaller rims, the
smaller tools are used.
Standard forming tools are universal and not attached to one job only. Th e required shape is gradually achieved
while working the material, in contrary to deep-drawing or pressing procedures. By doing this the shaping can be
in
fl uenced at any time. Di ff erent forms can be made with individual tools.
Degrease and thoroughly clean the components before forming.
— Dirt and grease reduce the forming ability
— Th e danger of a machine overload exists
ATTENTION
— Processing workpieces when the tools/tool holding fi xtures are not locked
—> Damage to the tool or workpiece
• Ensure the proper (secure) locking of tool holding fi xtures and tools. (Chapter “Mounting of
forming tools“ on page 30)
CAUTION
— Sharp edges on component (sheet metal) which is to be processed
—> Cuts to upper extremities
• Always wear protective gloves when processing components on the Kra ft former
