The Channel Section
7-2
7.6
Select Button
The select buttons typically act in an exclusive manner allowing only one select button to be selected at a
time. The selected channel is under control in the Selected Channel section and via the touchscreen. Certain
modes have groups of select buttons which blink but ordinarily the selected channel always glows continu-
ously and is assigned to the Selected Channel section of the console.
Any two adjacent channels can be linked for stereo use by holding the
SELECT
buttons for two
seconds. The scribble strip in the VCA Control section prompts to confirm the linking (unlink-
ing is done in the same way). The linked channels must be an odd-even pair. Settings from the
odd-numbered channel are written over those on the even-numbered channel. Channels can
be linked either horizontally (1-2) or vertically (1-25). Make this choice at the
Setup>Operation
screen. This is described in Section 12.10.1.
Dynamics processors are stereo linked to prevent image shift during periods of gain reduction.
Pan controls are inversely linked so panning one channel hard left of the stereo pair, will pan
the other hard right. Faders can be temporarily unlinked as described in the sections below.

Fader
The touch sensitive 100 mm motorized fader is the primary control for level setting. All faders
on all channels default to off.
The
Setup>General
option
Select Follows Faders
allows the select button and thus the
Selected Channel and touchscreen channel control section to follow a fader touch for quick
access to channel functions.
The faders do more than adjust the level for a source. They can also be switched to set levels of
aux sends via the
AUX MODE
button in the lower
Channel Assign
section (see Section 8.2.2).
Holding
CTRL
and touching a fader returns the fader to the OFF position. This allows you to
quickly reset a group of faders by holding
CTRL
and sliding your finger across a series of faders.
Any two adjacent faders can be linked for stereo use via the touchscreen or by holding the
SELECT
buttons as described above in Section 7.6.
Holding
SHIFT
and adjusting one fader of a stereo linked channel allows for fader offsets to
be created. When
SHIFT
is held, linked faders can be moved independently allowing for offset
values upon release of the
SHIFT
button. When one fader hits the max gain, the lesser value
fader will not be allowed to go up, retaining the offset. To relink them at the exact same value,
simply unlink and then relink the channels.
7.8
Solo Button
The solo button routes the channel’s pre-fader or after-fader signal to the solo buses for moni-
toring without disturbing the signal flow through the console.
Solo can be Pre-Fader Listen (PFL) or After-Fader Listen (AFL).
PFL is pre-fader, pre-mute and after the channel’s DSP. PFL solo is always mono except for ste-
reo channels and stereo-linked channel pairs.
AFL is post-fader and stereo. In LCR mode, AFL solo is also LCR.
