Replacing the removable motor starters
If you need to replace the removable motor starters or
remove them temporarily during maintenance work,
proceed as follows.
Removing a compartmented motor starter
•
Switch off the main switch (switch-disconnector or
MCCB).
•
Open the door of the compartment concerned and the
cable compartment door (live components are IP20
protected).
•
Ensure that the switch-disconnector or MCCB will not
be switched on in any way (the outgoing part must
remain isolated).
•
Remove the auxiliary power plugs from the terminal
strip that protrudes into the cable compartment (also
remove the auxiliary power connections with the
auxiliary bars, if present).
•
Remove the outgoing main power cables and the
shielding plate in the cable compartment.
•
Remove the auxiliary cable bundle from the door by
opening the bundle clips.
•
Push the operating panel interlock cams inwards and
push the panel out of the door
(see Figure 3-40).
•
Turn the panel and push it through the opening in the
door and back into the compartment. The auxiliary
cabling and the operating panel are now only
connected to the plug-in unit.
•
Loosen the plug-in adapter captive fixing bolts and
remove any other fixing bolts, if present.
•
Remove from the compartment the plug-in unit
including the auxiliary cabling and the operating panel
that are connected to it.

Fitting a compartmented motor starter
•
Ensure that the switch-disconnector or MCCB of the
motor starter to be installed is in the OFF position.
•
Place the plug-in unit in the compartment and secure it
with the fixing bolts.
•
Check that the outgoing main power circuit is isolated.
•
Turn the operating panel in such a way that it slides
easily through the opening in the door, from the inside
to the outside.
•
Push the operating panel back into the correct position
in the opening in the door; the interlock cams will now
click around the edges of this opening.

•
Secure the operating panel cable bundle using the
bundle clips that are present in the door.
•
Connect the outgoing main power cables and mount
the shielding plate in the cable compartment.
•
Plug the auxiliary power plugs into the terminal strip
that protrudes into the cable compartment (also
connect the auxiliary power connections with the
auxiliary bars, if present).
•
Close the door of the compartment concerned and the
cable compartment door.
