7.3.4 Frequency Synchronization
The Signal Receiver is synchronized to the Generator during factory set up, so it should
not be necessary to carry out synchronization in normal use. However, this can be
carried out if exceptional phase shift is noted, which will affect the sensitivity of the
measurements.
To synchronize the generator and receiver, switch on both units and allow them to
stabilize. This should take about 20 minutes.
Connect the Signal Generator outputs together, and select an output voltage of 48V
(see Section 4.2.4). Do not set a higher voltage as this may damage the generator.
Clamp the current clamp around the cable as shown in Figure 4-9 . Avoid moving the
clamp during synchronization.
