Description
In this case, the rotary switch of the switch device points downwards and is pressed
into the housing. The oxygen supply is then interrupted. By switching over to mixed
gas, the gas supply to the dosage unit and to the bypass valve of the lung demand
valve is released at the same time.
The lung demand valve automatically delivers fresh gas into the breathing bag. The
gas dosage for constant dosage is also located in the lung demand valve. The
breathing gas reaches the diver via the inhalation hose, the inhalation valve, and
the mouthpiece when the mouthpiece closure is open.
The response threshold (opening pressure) of the lung demand valve can be
changed to 1 of 3 settings via a lever on the lung demand valve.
The exhaled gas passes through the mouthpiece, the exhalation valve, the
exhalation hose, and the exhalation bag into the CO
2
-absorber. The pressure relief
valve is adjusted by the diver so that the exhaled gas can easily be exhaled through
the relief valve. The valve has five switching positions. The breathing circuit in the
device closes with the gas flow of the scrubbed gas from the CO
2
absorber to the
inhalation bag. If necessary, fresh gas is supplied by the lung demand valve into the
inhalation bag and the constant dosage feeds fresh gas as long as the gas supply
for mixed gas operation is guaranteed.
If there is an increased need for fresh gas (e.g. submerging and flushing the circuit),
fresh gas can also be added to the circuit manually using the manual bypass on top
of the device. Overpressure in the breathing circuit can be released through the
relief valve connected to the exhalation bag.
3.3 Intended use
The LAR 8000 is a rebreather for military use.
Depending on the diving depth, the rebreather can be used in two operation modes:
– Oxygen operation mode (closed rebreather)
– Combination operation mode with oxygen and nitrox B, nitrox C, or nitrox D
mixture (semi-closed rebreather)
