4. Announce out loud “TAKE OFF”.
Launch Helicopter
1. Point front of the helicopter so it is facing into the wind.
2. Arm the helicopter.
3. Engage the rotors with the “Rotor Engage Switch” by toggling it forward and
release it back to neutral. Ensure all rotors are spinning.
4. Increase throttle slowly and smoothly from centre position to about 75% throttle
the slowly and smoothly return it to centre. The helicopter will auto take off to
about 1 meter then settle. Ensure you keep control of roll, pitch and yaw during
takeoff.
5. Climb to a safe altitude away from potential hazards and check control systems.
Adjust trims if necessary.
6. Keep helicopter at a safe operating distance from people and buildings.
7. Continually scan the flight and ground areas for potential hazards.
In-Flight Operations
1. Ensure you keep the helicopter within direct visual sight at all times.
2. Have an observer or spotter assist you with operations to keep you aware of any
hazards that the helicopter may be approaching or hazards that may be
approaching the helicopter.
3. Do not fly in conditions that are beyond your piloting skills or beyond the
capabilities of the helicopter.
4. If the helicopter does not appear to be functioning properly in GPS position hold
mode take switch back to altitude hold and make appropriate adjustments to
control your flight.
Landing
1. Scan landing area for potential obstructions and hazards.
2. Announce out loud “LANDING”.
3. Carefully descend in as vertical a position as possible, landing the helicopter away
from obstructions and people.
Post Flight
1. Disengage the rotors immediately by placing throttle at its lowest position and
holding the engagement switch down for 3 seconds. Wait for the rotors to stop
turning
2. Disarm the helicopter.
3. Turn off the power to the camera.
4. Turn the power off to the helicopter and disconnect the battery.
5. Turn off the handheld controller.
6. Check the helicopter for signs of damage or excessive wear.
7. Secure the helicopter.
