Check that all four bottom rotors (counterclockwise) are correctly installed on bottom
motors.
Inspect rotors for chips or cracks; Replace any damaged rotors.
Check that each rotor blade is secured with three (3) o-rings; replace any missing o-
rings. Inspect condition of all o-rings; replace any that are cracked or worn.
Helicopter Battery
Fully charge battery before each use.
Ensure battery is placed in the correct position, and securely connected.
Canopy
Inspect canopy for cracks; replace if damaged.
Ensure canopy is correctly placed and securely latched. Canopy is seated properly
when the top shell overlaps the bottom shell.
Handheld Controller
Ensure Micro SD card is inserted in the Micro SD card Slot to enable flight Data
recording.
Fully charge controller battery before each use.
Ensure controller is communicating with the helicopter (indicated by three long beeps
when Draganflyer X8 and controller are first turned on.
Camera /Video System
Fully charge Base Station receiver battery before each use.
Fully charge monitoring device or video glasses before each use.
Ensure camera is mounted securely and that the mounting o-rings are in good
condition.
Test camera system for proper operation before each use.
Control Systems Check
1. Make sure that all of your body parts, clothing, other obstructions and bystanders
are well away from any rotors and their arc before turning power on to any
systems. Make sure the helicopter is secure and will not move if the motors
suddenly power up.
2. Announce out loud “CLEAR ROTORS”.
3. Turn on the handheld controller. Ensure the telemetry information is displayed.
4. Make sure that the throttle stick on the handheld controller is lowest position.
5. Connect the battery and/or turn on the power button to the helicopter, located at
the back of the canopy.
6. Follow recommended range test procedures.
7. If a camera is installed, check that the camera equipment power is on. Check to
make sure the shutter trigger is working properly.
Before Takeoff
1. Confirm that the handheld controller antennas are installed.
2. Check that the flight area is clear of people and obstructions.
3. Double check weather and environmental conditions and review potential
emergency landing areas.
