SANnet II 200 SCSI Array Installation, Operation, and Service Manual • June 2005

1. Use a null modem serial cable to connect the COM port of the RAID array to an 

unused serial port on your host system. 
A null modem cable has serial signals swapped for connecting to a standard serial 
interface.

Note – 

A DB9-to-DB25 serial cable adapter is included in your package contents to 

connect the serial cable to a DB25 serial port on your host if you do not have a DB9 
serial port.

2. Power up the array.

3. On the Windows 200x server, choose 

Start 

→ 

Programs 

→ 

Accessories 

→ 

Communications 

→ 

HyperTerminal

.

4. Type a name and choose an icon for the connection.

5. In the Connect To window, choose the COM port from the 

Connect Using

: drop-down 

menu that is connected to the array.

6. Click 

OK

7. In the Properties window, set the serial port parameters using the drop-down menus.
