Operator’s Manual

To open an existing steering file, use the

File | Open

command (or the file open icon

). You can also

open a steering file directly from Windows Explorer. The file extension for a steering file is *.st5. When a
file is opened, the data information fields and charts are filled with data, as shown below.

LWD Steering Tool Application Window (with data)

The LWD application menus and tool bar icons are described in the following subsection, and the
different information fields (site information, job information, data tables, and profile and plan view charts)
are described afterward.

We recommend that you review the help files in the LWD software for more information. The tool tip
helper can also be used to understand different parts of the application window and file. Click on the tool
tip helper icon

on the tool bar and click on a point of interest within the file to open a help window with

information about the point of interest.
