Optional Remote Boot ROM
The DE500 adapter (with the exception of the DE500-XA model) will
soon support the following remote boot ROMs. Check the adapter
Web site for availability. (See Chapter 4 for Web information.)

•
32-pin upgradable FLASH remote boot ROM
When you install a remote boot ROM on a DE500 adapter, the remote
boot ROM enables your computer to perform a remote boot using a
variety of selectable protocols.
Installing the Remote Boot ROM
To install the remote boot ROM, use the following procedure:
1.
Place the adapter on a flat surface.
2.
Align the ROM with the corresponding outline on the 32-pin ROM
socket

Align the 28-pin ROM

with the socket’s smaller silk-screen

Align the 32-pin ROM

with the socket’s larger silk-screen
outline

, or align the notch in the ROM with the notch in the
ROM socket.
Caution
Static electricity can damage modules and electronic
components. DIGITAL recommends using a grounded
antistatic wrist strap and a grounded work surface when
handling any modules or components.
