4.5.11 PARKING
When parking for a short time, the powered sailplane should be oriented in headwind
%
direction with the parking brake set and the air brakes fixed in the half-extended
position. In case of longer unattended parking or in unpredictable wind conditions, the
powered sailplane should be moored or stored in a hangar. It is also advisable to cover
%
the Pitot tube.
CAUTION
Avoid outdoor parking for prolonged periods of time.
NOTE
The powered sailplane should not be parked with the pro-
peller in the feathered pitch position. With an empty oil
pressure accumulator, the propeller blades cannot move to
the take-off position. Starting the engine with the propeller
in feathered pitch is possible, but significantly increases
engine wear.
