SCAN PROBE (DGH1912, DGH1920)—GENERAL CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
NOTE: Disinfection should be performed after general cleaning.
NOTE: Wear protective gloves when performing general cleaning or disinfection.
GENERAL CLEANING: Disconnect the probe from the probe cable. Using 70% isopropyl alcohol
(70% IPA) and a cloth or soft bristle brush, scrub the hard plastic surfaces of the probe. Rinse the
probe in distilled, sterile or deionized water. Surfaces of the probe may be dried with a soft
towel or gauze.
DISINFECTION: Immerse the probe lens (patient contact area), plus an additional 2 cm of the
probe in the desired solution. Allow the probe to soak for the necessary amount of time. The B
-
Scan probe is hermetically sealed and may be completely immersed in the disinfecting solution,
if necessary. However, this should be reserved for rare cases where it is judged by the clinician
that the entire probe has been contaminated. Rinse the probe in distilled, sterile or de
-
ionized
water. Thoroughly dry the probe using sterile gauze. The probe should be allowed to completely
dry prior to storage.
