SNMP TRAP
The image above shows how a received trap is deciphered. In this case, it is a notification for
passing of the Forward Power alarm into Idle status – a return of forward power to the set limits.
The highlighted Field 1 contains the name of the received trap.
Field 2 contains the Alias of the DB2003 – the sender of the notification.
Field 3 contains the Alias of the port which caused the notification.
Field 4 contains the name of the signal being monitored by the alarm.
Field 5 contains the Agent ID as in the SNMP Agent settings. It serves to identify the sender, in
addition of the one in Field 2.
Field 6 contains the description of the received trap, extracted from the MIB file loaded into an
MIB Browser.
