Via the MSD serial command it is possible to set the mass storage mode, in which the SD card
is detected by the PC (connected via the USB port of the data logger) as a hard drive. This
mode is useful for transferring files from the SD card to your PC without having to remove the
card to insert it into an external card reader. If the command is sent while the SD card is in
use (when writing or sending files), the command is not accepted.
When the data logger is in mass storage mode, the writing of files to the SD card is suspend-
ed. The pending file will be saved to the card when the data logger returns to normal mode. In
order to avoid losing recordings, we recommend to stay in mass storage mode only the mini-
mum amount of time required to copy the files to your PC and return to normal mode before
the internal EEPROM memory of the data logger (operated in a circular way) fills up.
To return to normal mode, perform the procedure laid down by the PC to eject the disc and
disconnect the USB cable.
If you use the software Meteo Studio to transfer the recorded data in the PC, the MSD mode is
activated automatically by the software.
Note: during the MSD mode, it is possible to copy the files from the SD card to the PC via USB,
but it is not possible to read other information via USB or make any settings. Therefore, in the
Meteo Studio software you will have to close the transfer of data before performing other func-
tions. However, it remains always functional the communication through the auxiliary serial
port (COM AUX).
