Verify that both the power supply units (PSUs) are the same type and have the same maximum
output power.
NOTE: The maximum output power (shown in watts) is listed on the PSU label.

If installed, remove the PSU blank.
Steps
Slide the new PSU into the chassis until the PSU is fully seated and the release latch snaps into place.
NOTE: If you unlatched the cable management arm, re-latch it. For information about the cable
management arm, see the system’s rack documentation.
Next steps
Connect the power cable to the PSU, and plug the cable into a power outlet.
CAUTION: When connecting the power cable, secure the cable with the strap.
NOTE: When installing, hot-swapping, or hot-adding a new PSU, wait for 15 seconds for the system
to discover the PSU and determine its status. The power supply redundancy may not occur until
discovery is complete. Wait until the new PSU is discovered and enabled before you remove the old
PSU. The PSU status indicator turns green to indicate that the PSU is functioning properly.

Steps
If you are installing a second power supply unit (PSU), remove the PSU blank in the bay by pulling the
blank outward.
CAUTION: To ensure proper system cooling, the PSU blank must be installed in the second
PSU bay in a non-redundant configuration. Remove the PSU blank only if you are installing a
second PSU.
