Troubleshooting power source problems

Press the power button to ensure that your appliance is turned on. If the power indicator does not glow when the power button is
pressed, press the power button firmly.

Plug in another working power supply unit to ensure that the system board is not faulty.

Ensure that no loose connections exist.
For example, loose power cables.

Ensure that the power source meets applicable standards.

Ensure that there are no short circuits.

Have a qualified electrician check the line voltage to ensure that it meets the needed specifications.
Power supply unit problems

Ensure that no loose connections exist.
For example, loose power cables.

Ensure that the power supply unit (PSU) handle or LED indicates that the PSU is working properly.
For more information about PSU indicators, see the Power indicator codes section.

If you have recently upgraded your appliance, ensure that the PSU has enough power to support the new appliance.

If you have a redundant PSU configuration, ensure that both the PSUs are of the same type and wattage.
You may have to upgrade to a higher wattage PSU.

Ensure that you use only PSUs with the Extended Power Performance (EPP) label on the back.

Reseat the PSU.
NOTE:
After installing a PSU, allow several seconds for the appliance to recognize the PSU and determine if it is
working properly.

Troubleshooting cooling problems
Ensure that the following conditions exist:
•
Appliance cover, cooling shroud, EMI filler panel, memory module blank, or back filler bracket is not removed.
•
Ambient temperature is not higher than the appliance specific ambient temperature.
•
External airflow is not obstructed.
•
A cooling fan is not removed or has not failed.
•
The expansion card installation guidelines have been followed.
Additional cooling can be added by one of the following methods:
From the iDRAC web GUI:

drop-down list, select the cooling level required or set the minimum fan speed to a custom value.
