12.1 Operating and Console Modes
Most of the time, you’ll use your workstation in operating mode–that is, you’ll
use the workstation software for tasks like these:
• Creating and revising files (letters, charts, spreadsheets, and so on)
• Backing up files
• Sending and receiving electronic mail
You use console mode for communicating directly with your workstation to
perform tasks like these:
• Running workstation self-tests
• Displaying workstation hardware configurations
