The setup program is unable to stop the Spider services or perform the
installation/uninstallation properly
If, for whatever reason, the Spider setup program cannot stop the critical Spider services, you will see an
error messages on the screen and the installation or uninstallation process will be terminated abnormally.
In this case, try restarting Windows and running the Spider setup program again. This should solve the
problem in most of the cases.
However, if the problem persists, you can try stopping the Spider services manually as described below.
Launch the
Control Panel
, click the
Administrative Tools
icon then once more on the
Services
icon. A
dialog shown in Figure 21 will appear. Scroll down the list of installed services to locate the
SpiderMan
service there and note if its status appears as
Started
. If so, highlight the service with the
blue cursor and click the [Stop] link line. Alternatively, right-click on the service name and select the
Stop
command from the pop-up menu. The service should appear as stopped in a few seconds.
