Electric Heater Design
If the 10th digit in the model number is an “E”, the rooftop
unit was furnished with a factory installed electric furnace
(Example, DPS010AHCE). The Rebel commercial rooftop units
are available with 4-stage heat output (see capacities in
. This packaged electric heat rooftop unit is designed for
outdoor non-residential installations only.
The electric heat design consists of a heating coil, DDC staging
control, and all operational safeties. The safety switches
include high-limit temperature switches and individual coil
fusing.

The high limit switch is an automatic reset switch. It opens the
control circuit and shuts the heater down when the temperature
reaches the high limit switch closes again allows the heater
to run when the temperature gets below dead band. There is
a second level of protection with an auxiliary high limit switch.
This switch opens up and shuts the heater down when the
temperature exceeds the set point. This switch requires a
manual reset .
