Unnumbered-Interfaces
Only point-to-point interfaces can be configured as an unnumbered
interface. An unnumbered interface, borrows the LAN IP address by
default. The user can edit this and configure a custom IP address on the
unnumbered interface. The subnet mask for an unnumbered interface is
always 255.255.255.255. For Dialup interfaces, the Remote IP field will
be disabled and determined only thro u g h n e g o t i a t i o n .
When NAT is enabled on an unnumbered interface, local services (such as
DNS Proxy, VoIP etc) may be affected. To overcome this problem,
configure one of the Global IP addresses from the NAT pool as the
unnumbered interface's IP address.
Routers at both ends of the point-to-point link should be configured to be
unnumbered.
