6. Defective insulation of the titanium anode as a result of sealing failure.
Inspection: Check the insulation by making the measurements described in
chapter 9.2.4.
Remedial action: Ensure sufficient electrical insulation.
Reason: The electrical insulation of the titanium anode is no longer suffi-
cient, e.g. as a result of incorrectly installed or worn-out sealing material
(use the original seal only). In this case, the anode is shorted to the tank
ground: the protective current becomes practically zero.
7. Wrong polarity of connecting cables
Inspection: Check the polarity by making the measurements described in
chapter 9.2.3. See also the respective information in chapter 7 concerning
sleeve mounting and insulated-hole mounting.
Remedial action: re-establish the correct polarity.
Reason: During normal operation, the positive potential "Plus (+)" is con-
nected with the anode and the negative potential "Minus (-)" with the tank.
If the polarity is inverted, the diode works in reverse direction and the plug-
in potentiostat reports a malfunction. When the mounting kits of chapter
7.1.2.1 and 7.2.2.1 are used, the correct position of the diode board should
be checked as well. See also the illustrations at the end of the operation
instructions.
8. Connecting cable open circuit
Inspection: Check the connecting cable; measurements to be made see
chapter 9.2.1 and 9.2.2.
Remedial action: Replace the connecting cable, using only the original con-
necting cable for CORREX

The analysis of faults is facilitated by the measurements described below. Any
deviations from the specified nominal values are a sign that the system has
been installed in a way that is incompatible with proper functioning of the
system.
