2.2.2 Antenna Connection
The XW-210 comes with an approved 2.4GHz omnidirectional antenna for use with WLAN devices using
WiFi (802.11b/g/n). The omnidirectional pattern is suitable for point-to-multipoint broadcasting in all
directions. Connect the antenna to the Reverse SMA connector on the faceplate. Do not operate the XW-
210 without the antenna connected.
The omnidirectional antenna radiates RF signals in all directions in one plane with a pattern shaped
somewhat like a doughnut or torus. The radiated power decreases above or below the plane, dropping to
zero on the antenna's axis. Orient the antenna vertically so the antenna will radiate in all horizontal
directions and so little radio energy is aimed into the sky or down toward the earth and lost.
This device has been approved to operate with an antenna (provided) with the maximum permissible
gain specified in the specification (
Appendix A: Specifications
). Antenna types not included in this
specification, having a gain greater than the maximum gain indicated for that type, are strictly prohibited
for use with this device.
The antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm
from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or
transmitter except in accordance with FCC multi-transmitter product guidelines.
