REPLACING PRESSURE TRANSDUCERS (REPAIR)
The ground strap connects to the internal panel ground stud to the ground stud on the door of the enclosure. If it is necessary to
change the ground strap on the CONCOA Medical IntelliSwitch, follow these steps:
1.
UNPLUG UNIT!
2.
Close all inlet valves and vent entire system of gas.
3.
Open door by loosening the four screws holding it to the cabinet.
4.
Locate the transducer to be replaced, see figure 31 – items 8, 9 & 10.
5.
Remove appropriate transducer connector from circuit board, see figure 33, on inside of door.
6.
With zero pressure on entire system, turn transducer to be replaced counter-clockwise slowly. Listen for any hissing –
indication of gas pressure – STOP if you hear any pressure and vent system completely before continuing.
7.
Back transducer completely out of port.
8.
Clean out any excess Teflon tape still in port that transducer came out of.
Figure 40
9.
Before applying Teflon tape, inspect the NPT threads for cleanliness and damage. Start the Teflon tape on the second
thread as shown above; make sure the tape does not overlap the end of the fitting. As the tape is wrapped in the direction
of the thread spiral, pull tightly on the end of tape so that the tape conforms to the threads. Apply two overlapping layers
of Teflon tape. Cut off the excess tape and press the end firmly into the threads. If reinstalling a used transducer, make
sure to remove all previously used Teflon tape from the NPT threads – prior to applying new tape.
10.
Carefully thread in new transducer into correct port by hand until snug.
11.
Wrench tighten new transducer.
12.
Connect transducer connector to the circuit board, see figure 33, on inside of door.
13.
Re-apply AC power to the system.
14.
Turn gas back on – slowly.
15.
Leak check replaced transducer pipe thread joint.
16.
Close front door and re-secure it to the cabinet.
