Chapter 3. FIRMWARE UPDATE
3.1 Firmware Update Overview
Make sure to operate the LGaN with its latest available firmware.
CEFD’s LGaN family of Outdoor Amplifiers / BUCs are factory-shipped with the latest version of operating
firmware. If you need to update the firmware, you can apply the update to the LGaN without having to
remove it from operation. You may directly acquire the download from CEFD’s web site
(
www.comtechefdata.com ), or receive the archive file by e-mail from CEFD Product Support.
3.1.1 Important Considerations
Before you proceed with the firmware update, make sure that:
•
The LGaN ‘J6 | COM1’ receptacle is connected to the user personal computer (PC) using one of
the methods described in Section 3.2.1.1.
•
The PC is running a terminal emulation program for operation of the LGaN Serial or Ethernet
Telnet interfaces.
•
The LGaN Management IP Address has been noted.
•
The PC is running a compatible Web browser for operation of the LGaN HTTP Interface.
•
The CEFD’s latest firmware files have been downloaded or are available on the User PC in an
accessible temporary folder.
3.1.2 LGaN Firmware Update Procedure Summary
1. Download the firmware update archive file to a user-supplied PC. The user PC must be Microsoft
Windows® compatible.
2. Use an adapter cable to directly connect the LGaN J6 | COM1 receptacle to the serial port of the
user PC.
3. Extract the firmware update files from the archive download file. The file to be uploaded is similar
to FW-0021193-_v1.1.1.zip.
4. Navigate to the Admin > Upgrade web page.
5. Follow the Firmware Upgrade procedure.
