R is the Ground resistance (Resistance between the electrical Ground pin and the exposed
dead metal of the device under test), if the ground switch is in the OFF position R is set to 0

Testing Connections
Three-wire Testing
With this type of devices, we can perform the three different tests, Breakdown, leakage and
ground continuity, the figure 14 shows an example of a connection between the Dielectric
Withstand tester and the device under test, if the device has a turn on switch it has to be in the
ON position.

Two-wire testing
In this test mode we only have the options to test the leakage current and the insulation of the
two points of evaluation, the next figure shows a connection example of two-wire device test,
where the ground check is not conducted and only the insulation and the measure of the leakage
current are conducted.
