Horizontal Venting – Combustible Walls
Use a Maximum of 20' (6.1 m) of vent pipe and two elbows.
UN-VENTED TEMINATION
For un-vented operation, it is recommended that the
1810.WV.400 (4”/10 cm) or 1810.WV.600 (6”/15 cm)
turndown style vent terminal (with bird screen) be installed
at the exhaust end of the vacuum exhauster.
Ventilation must be provided at a rate of 4 CFM per 1,000
BTU/Hr firing rate (United States) or 3 CFM per 1,000
BTU/Hr firing rate (Canada). For uninsulated or poorly
insulated buildings it is recommended that a rate of 8 CFM
per 1,000 BTU/Hr firing rate be used – this will minimize the
possibility of the products of combustion condensing within
the building.
It is not recommended to use outside combustion supply
with unvented heaters.
If natural ventilation is deemed insufficient, mechanical fans
are to be used to supply ventilation air and an interlock
switch must be used to prevent the heater from operating
when the fans are off. This can be done using a pressure
switch.
On “U” tube systems, maintain at least 3 ft. (1 m) lateral
distance from the combustion air inlet of the burner to the
exhaust outlet. Add ducting to the combustion air supply to
achieve the separation as may be required
