4.3.5 Select map content
This setting is available if your navigation software is equipped with both open-source
community maps and paid maps from professional map content providers. You can choose
between the two map types.

Community maps can be edited by anyone. In some parts of the world, these maps
can be more detailed and may contain more street names and house numbers than
paid maps. However, due to their nature they might not always be accurate enough. If
you cannot find a location that you are familiar with, we encourage you to go to the
website
www.openstreetmap.org
and add it yourself to the map. Updated community
maps will be downloadable periodically from
clarion.naviextras.com
as part of the
standard map update process.

Paid maps are quite reliable, because they are created by professional map-making
companies. However, in some parts of the world they may contain less detail than
community maps.
Note that after changing the map content, the software is restarted. If you already have a
planned route, it will be recalculated to match the newly selected map.
4.3.6 Map settings
You can fine-tune the appearance of the Map screen. Adjust the map view to your needs,
choose suitable colour themes from the list for both daytime and night use, change the red
arrow to a 3D car model, show or hide 3D buildings, turn track logging on or off, and manage
you Place visibility sets (which Places to show on the map).
The map is always shown on the screen so that you can see the effect when you change a
setting.

Switch the map view between a 3D perspective view and a 2D top-
down view.
Adjust the basic zoom and tilt levels to your needs. Three levels are
available.
Switch between daytime and night colour modes or let the software
switch between the two modes automatically a few minutes before
sunrise and a few minutes after sunset.
Select the colour scheme used in daytime mode.
