Log in with your username and password:

A successful login means that your local username works on any TTY or VTY line. Do not disconnect
your session until you can log in.

Creating a Login Banner
A banner shows you which unit you are connected to (or are connecting through, in the case of a console
server).
Step 1
Create the banner:
Router(config)#
banner login |
Enter TEXT message. End with the character '|'.
This is a secured device.
Unauthorized use is prohibited by law.

Step 2
Test the banner:
Router#
login
This is a secured device.

keyword authenticates EXEC shell users.

Configures PPP authentication to use the local
database if the session was not already
authenticated by the login keyword.
