OUTPUT SHAFT AND COUPLING
MECHANISM
Remove gearbox. Refer to
GEARBOX
in this sub-
section.
Before removing the right housing and output
shaft measure the backlash on output shaft. This
measure will indicate if output shaft adjustment
is necessary.
Output Shaft Backlash Procedure
1. Engage PARK position on the gear shaft to
block gearbox.
2. Remove bearing cover with oil seal

3. Remove:
– Distance sleeve
– O-ring.

4. Install the measurement tool at the end of out-
put shaft.
REQUIRED TOOL
BACKLASH MEASUREMENT
TOOL (P/N 529 036 030)
5. From center of tool bolt, measure 47 mm
(1.85 in)and place a mark on the tab.
