6.1.5 To fill the opening around the commercial power cables at the grommet, use “B” sealant tape or
other filler according to local practices. If all other work is complete, close and secure the
power end chamber door.
See Fig. 27 for a detailed wiring diagram.
6.2 Grounding Considerations
Note: If the power pedestal is installed more than five feet away from the main
equipment chamber, a 2 AWG solid bare tinned copper wire shall be added from
the AC compartment ground bar of the main cabinet to the ground grid.
Note: The bonding wire (2 AWG insulated) between the power pedestal system and the
cabinet ground system (splice compartment ground bar), and only this bonding
wire, shall be routed through the hole located in the center of the splice
compartment with a wide sweep to the ground bar. The sweep shall be a large
bending radius of at least 8 inches (20.32 cm) and 90 degrees minimum.
Note: Ground wire terminals shall be of an approved type and shall be installed per
manufacturer's instructions. Compression lug terminals shall be used with
stranded wires only. Screw-tight terminals may be used with either stranded or
solid wires with proper torque values.
6.2.1 Grounding should be accomplished according to local practices and in accordance with the latest
NEC codes. Refer to Fig. 28 and the following for general grounding information.
