4.3.4 Place the conduits, cables, ground rod(s), and ground wire(s) as indicated on the engineering
work prints.
Note: At the splice chamber end, place the conduits to hold the four 4-inch (10.2 cm)
conduits in a 2-by-2 pattern. If required, at the power chamber end, place two
4-inch (10.2 cm) conduits side by side.
4.3.5 Install a ring ground system around the proposed foundation pad according to local practices and
building safety codes.
4.3.6 Lay the MESA
®
6 NxT / Calix ODC-120 template (Fig. 10) on the ground, placing it over the
conduits. Slip the conduits into the template holes to position them. Back fill and tamp the
trench to hold the conduit firmly in place.
Note: Be sure the conduit ends extending through the template are aligned vertically
(perpendicular to the template surface).
Note: The pad top surface should be approximately six inches (15.2 cm) above the
gravel base, and two inches (5.08 cm) above the final grade.
4.3.7 If a power transfer template will be mounted to the pad, place the power transfer template in one
corner of the pad. Route the 1

-inch (4.45 cm) conduit from the AC end chamber side of the
cabinet template to the power transfer pedestal template. Remove the template. Backfill and
tamp the trench to hold the conduits in position.
