To install the hard disk drive for the Processor Module, perform the following:
1.
First, record the disk drive parameters (on the drive itself) for later use. These include:
cylinders, heads, wprecomp, landing zone and sectors.
2.
Lift the dual fan compartment.
3.
Remove the top disk drive support bracket (See
Disk Drive Bay
illustration).
4.
Attach the disk drive to the drive mounting bracket with four mounting screws.
5.
Install the drive into the disk drive support in line with the slot of the Processor Module board.
Seat the drive by placing the two lower drive mounting bracket pins into the holes in the
bottom disk support bracket.
6.
Replace the top disk drive support by aligning the upper drive mounting bracket pin into the
proper hole on the top disk drive support. Secure the support.
7.
Based on the slot number of the Processor Module board, determine to which power connector
group it belongs:
•
slots 1 or 2:
Group 1
•
slots 3 or 4:
Group 2
•
slots 5 or 6:
Group 3
•
slots 7 or 8:
Group 4
•
slots 9 or 10:
Group 5
•
slots 11 or 12:
Group 6
•
slots 13 or 14:
Group 7
•
slots 15 or 16:
Group 8
8.
Connect the disk power cable to the Group “x” (determined in previous step) drive power
connector on the edge of the backplane assembly.
9.
Connect the drive I/O cable to the disk and route the other end under the IES/MUX board
assemblies to the backplane slot area.

The Processor Module board requires three I/O cables for interface with:
•
IDE hard drive
•
MUX for the flexible diskette drive
•
MUX for the IES circuitry
Refer to the
Multiplexor board
illustration, as well as the Processor board illustration,
