Enable Pending Offline
Pending Offline allows the IES to monitor a specifically marked processor until it is reset. Once a
marked processor is inactive for any reason, IES holds the processor offline, and issues an alarm
stating that the processor is offline. This feature is recommended for all processors residing in a
platform used for remote communications to allow an orderly shutdown of that platform.
Mark the processors you wish to place in the pending offline state. Select the Enable Pending
Offline
option from the Functions Menu.
Note:
You cannot enable Pending Offline if a processor has the key word super in its description
field.
Disable Pending Offline
Select this option from the Functions Menu to disable the Pending Offline feature on the marked
processors.
Note:
If a processor is offline when you disable Pending Offline, IES will attempt to place the
processor online.
Group Power Off
The Group Power Off option from the Functions Menu allows you to remotely turn off a group
containing a marked processor.
You may also power off multiple groups at a time by marking multiple processors.
WARNING
:
Do not power off the EMS (BC Supervisor processor) while other groups remain on.
Note:
If the key word super appears in the description field of the marked processor, you will first
receive a warning message before the processor is powered off.
Group Power On
The Group Power On option from the Functions Menu allows you to remotely turn on a group
containing a marked processor.
You may power on multiple groups at a time by marking multiple processors. This option has the
same affect as pressing the Group Power On switch on the front panel.
WARNING:
Although you have the option to power on multiple groups at a time, Cabletron does not
recommend this action. We recommend individual power on/off cycles to ensure proper
system reset/restart.
In addition, do NOT turn group power on to a group in a platform being serviced! If power
is applied to a group while boards are being installed or moved, or slots are being accessed
for any other reason, damage may occur to the equipment.
