The interactive prompting begins:
•
The following software has been installed on this drive... Press C to continue.
•
The installation program will perform the following functions on this BC Series Processor... Press
any key.
•
CREATING AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS FILES. Will this system be used as a Novell Net-
Ware Workstation? Press Y.
•
Select the NIC that is installed... Press 1 (for BC Series board with on-board 10Base-T Ether-
net).
•
Select the VGA monitor type that is connected to this BC Series Processor... Press 2 (for mono-
chrome). This will allow the setup to work with either a color or monochrome monitor.
•
Optimizing AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS files. Do you want to run MemMaker to optimize
the memory configuration? Press Y, then press any key to run in batch mode and start Mem-
Maker. MemMaker prompts are answered automatically; don’t attempt to answer them
yourself. While running, MemMaker restarts the system twice.
7.
Finally, BCVision should come up. Exit BCVision (<F3>) to allow MemMaker to finish.
8.
MemMaker displays a summary of memory use. Press <Enter> to exit MemMaker.
9.
To test the completed setup, restart the system (<CTRL> <ALT> <DEL>), and verify that
BCVision comes up.
The EMS processor is now ready for running EMS functions within the CSX7000.
Note:
Control software must be loaded on each Processor Module connected to the IES circuitry
before EMS operations will monitor the status of the Processor Modules correctly. The
Processor Modules will display as INACTIVE if this control software is not running. If the
EMS module has CPR enabled, the EMS module resets any INACTIVE Processor Modules.
CPR should be disabled to avoid these resets.

The final steps to the EMS Module installation involve the setup of the EMS bus. The IES circuitry
must connect to the EMS processor via the out-of-band EMS bus. Pertinent switch settings and
physical cabling of this bus are described in the CSX7000 Cabling and Monitoring Systems chapters.
Refer to these chapters to:
•
set the IES address for each CSX platform (See
Setting the IES address
)
•
make the proper RJ-11 connections
(Setup for a Cluster of CSX7000s
)
•
set up the daisy-chain for multiple platforms, if applicable (
Connections for System EMS Moni-
toring
), and
•
properly set the termination switches
Once you’ve physically set the switches and made these connections, you must then initialize the
EMS bus (following).
