The EMS processor board requires four I/O cables for interface with:
•
IES converter
•
IDE hard drive
•
MUX for the flexible diskette drive
•
MUX for IES circuitry
In order to make the proper interface connections, you must locate the multiplexor (MUX) board.
Refer to the previous illustrations of the backplane bay and the disk drive bay. The multiplexor
board (MUX) is located between the disk drive bay and the backplane bay. It is installed vertically
and crosswise in the platform. The connectors of the MUX face the backplane bay. The following
identifies the connectors on the MUX board:
To install the interface cables, follow these steps:
1.
Connect J1 34-pin header, flexible diskette drive, to the MUX-floppy connector for slot 15
(between J13 and J20) on the MUX board.
2.
Connect J2 40-pin header, IDE hard disk drive, to the EMS hard disk I/O cable.
3.
Connect J3 26-pin header, BC I/O, to the MUX-IES circuitry connector (BC I/O jumper) J13 on
the MUX board.
4.
Connect J8 10-pin header, COM 2, to the IES converter module ribbon cable.
