NSTALLATION
If ordered on your initial system, the Processor Modules will be installed at the factory. In the event
you choose to add a Processor Module at a later date, the module will be available as an upgrade.
This appendix describes the installation of the upgrade module.

A Processor Module consists of:
•
a CPU or processor module board that controls a particular group,
•
its associated hard disk drive, and
•
appropriate cabling.
The processor module boards house Pentium-based processors, and include standard PC
components such as system memory, video support, keyboard controller, IDE hard disk controller,
diskette drive controller, serial and parallel ports.
The CSX7000 Processor Modules come in two different versions:
•
CSXPRO7-8
(8 Megabytes RAM, 500 Megabyte hard drive)
•
CSXPRO7-32
(32 Megabytes RAM, 1.2 Gigabyte hard drive)
A single processor module supports up to six WAN and one LAN interface modules/adapter
boards to form a system group. A single platform supports a maximum of four groups, including
both system groups and EMS configurations. Once installed, the Processor Module is integrated
with the Platform Multiplexor for access by the local monitor, keyboard and diskette drive, as well
as access by the EMS module for monitoring and control.

Before installing a Processor Module, you will need the overall plan for the CSX7000. The platform
will accommodate from one to eight system groups. Each group may require a different number of
backplane slots.
