HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE:
This feature protects the generator unit from running at
excessively high temperatures. The contacts of the Over
Temperature Switch (OTS) are normally open (NO). If
the engine oil temperature reaches a critical
temperature, the switch contacts close. This completes a
circuit to ground through
Wire #95
.
The CMA monitors
Wire #95
and when a ground is
sensed, it shuts the generator down and
displays
“FC_7”
at the control panel.
NOTE
: If so equipped, the CMA simultaneously
signals the remote LED to flash in a sequence of
seven blinks and displays “High Oil
Temperature” on the Statstation™ screen as
well.
Common causes for this condition include:
• Running the unit with the side doors removed
• Obstructed air inlet or exhaust port
• Debris in the engine cylinder cooling fins
Inspect for and correct any of these conditions before
proceeding to check the OTS.
When the problem is corrected:
1. Reset the fault code detection system (
“Resetting The Fault Code Detection System” on
page 20
).
Test 1
Check Over Temperature Switch (OTS):
1. Select OFF at SYSTEM switch.
2. Remove the 15 Amp fuse.
3. Remove
Wire #95
from the OTS as shown in Fig.
39.
• Make sure wire #95 does not touch ground.
4. Test continuity of switch as shown in Fig. 39
.
Fig. 39 - Testing Continuity of OTS
• No continuity should be measured.
If continuity is found:
• Replace OTS.
Test 2
Check Wire #95
1. Gain access to the generator control panel
“Access To The CMA Board” on page 19)
.
2. Remove the 8-Pin connector from the CMA board.
3. Measure for short-to-ground on
Pin #5 Wire #95
, as
shown in Fig. 40.
Fig. 40 - Checking Wire #95
If a short-to-ground is measured:
• Repair and/or replace wiring as necessary.
If no short-to-ground is measured:
• Replace CMA/Control Panel.
