Z-touch Laser Pointer Technical Information
Storage
Always store the pointer in the relevant compartment of the supplied protective case when not in
use. Make sure to lock it to prevent unauthorized use. Remove the battery when the pointer is not
used over more than six months to prevent the battery from leaking.
MR Conditional
Non-clinical testing has demonstrated the
Z-touch
is MR Conditional. It
can be safely used in the MR environment under the following conditions:
• MR environment with 1.5 or 3.0 Tesla scanner
• To prevent autonomous acceleration, do not move
Z-touch
across the 5
Gauss (0.5 mTesla) line.
•
Z-touch
may only be used in an MR environment with a 5 Gauss (0.5
mTesla) line clearly indicated on the floor surrounding the MR scanner.
• Do not use or activate
Z-touch
during an MRI examination.
MR-induced malfunction testing with device exposure to the clinical level
static field B
0
, the time-varying gradient field (dB/dt) and the RF field (B1,
E) in 1.5 Tesla and 3.0 Tesla MR systems passed all tests according to
Brainlab testing procedure.
After use, always store
Z-touch
in the provided storage case outside the
MR environment.
Possible Side Effects
The eyes are probably the only area which can be damaged by the laser beam of
Z-Touch Laser
Pointer
. The most likely side-effects following exposure are:
Side Effect
Explanation
Flash blind-
ness
Temporary vision impairment, possibly lasting several minutes, which occurs af-
ter exposure to a bright light.
After image
Perception of spots in field of vision. This may last several minutes, even sever-
al days in severe cases.
Glare
Reduction or complete loss of sight in central field of vision due to exposure to a
direct or scattered beam. Once the laser beam is out of the field of view, the
glare ceases.
