9.1 Application Software of the Monitoring Function
Temperature Monitoring
The ambient air temperature of the operator terminal must not exceed
+45
°C. To ensure operational reliability, a temperature monitoring
function measures the internal housing temperature.
1. For temperatures exceeding 50 °C inside the housing a temperature
warning is indicated (only for devices with interface variant "N" or "P")
as follows:
•
via the red flashing LED "W/T" on the front panel or
•
via a message window displayed by the operating system. This
message must also be evaluated by all application programs,
especially by I/O processes.
The temperature warning can be disabled by the program UPS
NT
for
Windows NT 4.0 or Windows2000 (see section "UPS Program" on
page 9-3).
2. If the temperature in the housing exceeds 65 °C, all variants of the
operator terminal will be shut down and switched off via the UPS logic
circuit (see page 9-2).

Uncontrolled machine movements!

Always ensure that temperatures remain within the
non-critical range. In the case of application-sensitive
procedures, ensure that machine movements are
terminated in a controlled manner before the
temperature monitoring function switches off the
operator terminal.
