BREAK-IN PERIOD
CAUTION:
Scrupulously follow the
instructions of this section. Failure
to do so may reduce the engine’s life
and/or performance.
Engine(s)
With BOMBARDIER-ROTAX
®
sport boat
engine(s),
a break-in period is required
before operating the engine(s) at full
throttle. We recommend about 10 oper-
ating hours.
During this period,
maximum throttle
should not exceed 3/4
, however, brief
full acceleration and speed variations
contribute to a good break-in. Contin-
ued wide open throttle accelerations,
prolonged cruising speeds and over-
loading the engine(s) is (are) detrimen-
tal during the break-in period.
To assure additional protection during
the initial break-in period, it is recom-
mended to
add 2 liters (1/2 gal) of the
same oil as in the injection oil reser-
voir in the fuel tank. The oil should
be added for the first full fuel tank
filling only.
To add injection oil in the fuel tank, pro-
ceed as follows:
Fill fuel tank with approximately 50 li-
ters (12 gal) of gasoline; then, add the
required quantity of injection oil in the
fuel tank.
NOTE:
It is important to proceed in this
order to allow a proper mixing of the oil
in the gasoline. If oil is added first in an
empty fuel tank, fuel lines will be filled
up with injection oil leading in a no start
condition of the engine(s).
CAUTION:
Remove and clean spark
plugs after engine break-in.
10-Hour Inspection
It is highly recommended that after the
first 10 hours of operation, the sport
boat be checked by an authorized deal-
er. This inspection will also provide the
opportunity to discuss any unanswered
questions you may have encountered
during the first hours of operation.
.
The 10-hour inspection is at the
expense of the sport boat owner.
