Check the fuel level
!
Danger
Fire hazard!
When working on the fuel system do not use
open fire, do not smoke, do not refuel in closed
rooms, do not inhale any fuel fumes.

Check the fuel level on the fuel level gauge "n"
(Fig. 71) with the ignition switched on.

Note
Do not drive the fuel tank dry, as otherwise the fuel
system needs to be bled.

Clean the area around the filler opening.

Open the fuel tank cover (Fig. 72).

Caution
Contaminated fuel can cause malfunction or
even damage of the engine.
If necessary, fill in fuel through a funnel with
screen.
l
If necessary top up with fuel (diesel or winter
diesel).
For quality of fuel refer to the table of fuels and
lubricants.
