Use the indicated types of extension cables to attach CPUs to the Local Hub and
any Switching Remote Units; plug the remote keyboards, monitors, mice, and any
serial or audio devices directly into the Remotes; and (with the Dual-Access Local
Hub) plug the local keyboard, monitor, and mouse directly into the Local Hub.
Connect the Local Hub to the Remotes with straight-pinned four-pair CAT5 cable.
Power the Remotes with their included power supplies. For more information
about installation, refer to

Connect non-serial Local Hubs to non-serial Remotes only. Similarly,
connect KVM/Serial Local Hubs only to KVM/Serial Remotes and
connect KVM/Serial/Audio Local Hubs only to KVM/Serial/Audio
Remotes. Do

mix any of these three types with any of the others—

for example, don’t connect a KVM/Serial Local Hub to non-serial or
KVM/Serial/Audio Remotes. Extender systems with intermixed non-
