CHAPTER 3: Options: Customizing the Modem Setup
NOTE
If V.13 operation is enabled
(TX ONLY, RX ONLY or TX
AND RX), the data format is
automatically changed to
synchronous. However, if
you enable V.13 operation
and later disable it, the data
format does not
automatically revert to
asynchronous. To restore
the asynchronous data
format, you must use the
Data Format option.
3.15 V.33 and Bell 208A/B Options
The following three options are
available on the modem and are
intended only for V.33 or Bell
208A/B operation. (For Bell 208
operation, see also Satellite Delay,
Turnaround Delay, 208 Phase
Detection, Answer Tone Detection
and V.32/208 Auto-Detect Mode
later in this chapter.)
Carrier Type
V.33, 208, V.32/208 modes
SWITCHED (SWITCH). For
2-wire applications, the carrier type
option must be set for switched
carrier operation.
CONSTANT. Constant, or
continuous carrier can be used
only for 4-wire leased line
applications (although such
applications may also use switched
carrier).
CTS
V.33 mode
This option applies only to V.33
leased-line applications that use
constant carrier.
RTS. The CTS signal follows RTS.
ON. CTS is always ON.
NOTE
The modem also supports a
CTS to EIA option, which is
described in Section 3.11.
RTS-CTS Delay (CTS Delay)
V.33, 208, V.32/208 modes
The available RTS-to-CTS delay
settings are 0, 15, 50, or 150 ms.
However, the only available choices
for 208A/B operation are 50 and
150 ms. If you select 0 or 15 ms, the
actual delay in 208A/B mode will
be 50 ms.
