Press pushbutton 3 to select

be displayed:

When you exit the SETUP menu,
the modem automatically saves its
current configuration (i.e., option
setups, including any changes you
have selected) to its internal
memory. The saved configuration
will remain in effect until it is
changed—even if the modem loses
power.

The factory default settings are
different for each of the Quick
Setup configurations available to
the modem [2-wire dial Hayes, 2-
wire dial V.25 bis, etc.]. To return
to the factory-default settings for
any of these configurations (except
2-wire dial Hayes), go to the
QUICK SETUP menu and select
the desired configuration.
The 2-wire dial Hayes Quick
Setup does not recall the factory-
default setting, it recalls the stored
user profile 0 or 1, depending on
which has been designated as the
default; see &Y command.
To entirely reconfigure the
modem to the state it was in when
shipped from the factory, hold in
the right arrow pushbutton as you
power up the modem until the
words “FACTORY DEFAULT”
appear on the LCD.

The currently selected setting
will be flashing on and off. Press
pushbutton 2 to switch the volume
setting to MEDIUM. “MEDIUM”
will begin to flash on and off,
indicating that this setting has
been selected (although the new
selection will not become active
until you exit the SETUP menu).
To return to the first screen of
the MAIN MENU, press the ENT
button several times.

Once your selection is complete,
you will most likely want to return
to the EIA status screen. Do this
by pressing the ENT pushbutton
several times—exactly how many
times will depend on which screen
you are exiting from. (If the modem
is in a test mode, you must in most
cases press ENT and then select
OFF, which will end the test, before
the ENT button can be used to exit
the test screen.)
