Tools

Tools allows the user to access the instrument functions listed below.

Function

Description

Software Settings

This feature allows the administrator to set preference and default parameters. VALENT Software 
settings can be entered manually or accessible from a dropdown menu. 

Print Reports

Print Reports allows the user to print out Slide Layouts, Reagent Layouts, Run Logs, and Reagent 
Worksheets. The user can also print to PDF.

Several IHC Reports and Protocol Validation can be accessed through the Report Generator.

Clear Unused Reagents

Removes reagent vials from the reagent rack that are no longer needed for the staining run. This 
option is only accessible after a run is complete.

Clear Completed Trays

Releases the slide tray from instrument and allows the user to remove the slide trays.

Label Designers

Slide and reagent labels can be edited under Label Designers.

Instrument Operations

Allows the user to perform routine maintenance such as: Drain Waste, Prime Buffers, System 
Cleaning, Reset Carboys and Read Sensors.

Configure Reagent Wash Lists

The user can add reagents that require special handling for decontamination to the Configure 
Reagent Wash List to signal a cleaning step to help prevent contamination in the probe. 

Dilution Calculator

Automatically calculates how to dilute a stock solution of known concentration to the required 
working concentration.

Configure AR Carboys

Allows the user to assign an antigen retrieval (AR) solution to the two designated AR Carboys. 
Biocare Medical's antigen retrieval solutions include AR-Lo pH 6.2 and AR-Hi pH 9.5.

Turn Interior Lights On/Off

Select this function to turn interior lights on or off.

Turn Refrigerator On

Allows user to turn reagent rack refrigeration on. The refrigerated rack keeps reagents below room 
temperature throughout a run.

Connect to Computer

Allows computer and instrument to communicate.
